Clyde D. McKee III
Chairman and CEO
Clyde founded McKee Risk Management with an ambitious group of insurance professionals in 1999 after recognizing the need in the industry for a talented Underwriting Manager in specific niches within the property and casualty market. Clyde was familiar with these classes from his tenure at Reliance Insurance Company, where he was responsible for a portfolio of Child Care, Construction, Social Services, and Public Entity business generating over $100MM in premium. Clyde also developed the first facility focusing on the middle market Mergers and Acquisitions sector.
Clyde has over 30 years of underwriting experience, holding management positions at Chubb and Reliance, in New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. At McKee Risk Management, Clyde is actively involved in all aspects of the business, including underwriting, marketing, and building relationships with partner carriers.
Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1976, Clyde obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intellectual History from Connecticut College.
Jeffrey A. Miller, CPCU
President of Insurance Operations
Jeff has multiple responsibilities within McKee Risk Management. He is responsible for leading the Construction and Property practices, having profitably grown the portfolios to over $30,000,000 in premium. In addition, Jeff works closely with Clyde in overall strategic management of the firm and leads producer development initiatives across all practices. Jeff is involved in major negotiations with partner carriers, agents and vendors. He is also a member of the collaborative underwriting committee, engaged in underwriting the most complex accounts within the portfolios.
Over his 30+ year career, Jeff has acquired extensive commercial lines underwriting and management experience at the field office, regional, and home office levels. He has held positions in Cincinnati, Albany, NY, and Philadelphia. Jeff received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Management from Bucknell University.
Scott Lamb, FCAS, MAAA
Senior Vice President
Scott is responsible for managing all aspects of the actuarial discipline within the firm, in both pricing and reserving regimens. Scott is a core member of the collaborative underwriting committee, involved in underwriting and pricing complex accounts. Scott spends considerable time working with the actuarial staffs of McKee’s partner insurance carriers in identifying, monitoring, and quantifying trends within the portfolios. In order to ensure accurate benchmarks, Scott has also been involved in designing McKee’s data collection systems, as well as rating systems for underwriters.
Scott has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years, becoming a Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society in 1993. He has been involved in analyzing all lines of business, including reinsurance, in both pricing and reserving activities. Scott is a graduate of Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA where he received his BA in mathematics.
Jim Hilkene, CPA
Jim manages all of the accounting and finance functions within McKee. Jim is also a member of the collaborative underwriting committee, engaged in underwriting the most complex accounts within the McKee portfolios.
Jim began his career at Ernst and Young. After 5 years at Ernst & Young, Jim joined Reliance Insurance Company’s Internal Audit Department where his responsibilities included auditing Program Underwriters. Jim left Internal Audit to become Controller of the Specialty Division of Reliance Insurance Company, where he was responsible for budgeting and the financial results of the division.
Jim has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years and has been with McKee since 2001. He is a graduate of Clemson University, where he received his BS in Financial Management. Jim became a CPA in 1992 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Cynthia Milliman, CPCU, ARM
Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer
Cynthia is accountable for maintaining the environment of underwriting excellence in practices, processes, and ultimately, in loss ratio. Key areas of focus include the establishment and maintenance of sound underwriting practices, the creation and enforcement of underwriting guidelines for all of McKee’s specialties, regulatory compliance, and product development. Cynthia also chairs the collaborative underwriting committee. This group consists of Claims, Actuarial, and Underwriting management, who work with the line underwriters and practice leaders in underwriting the complex accounts.
Cynthia’s 25+ years experience includes insurance underwriting, product and underwriting management, as well as reinsurance broking. Cynthia is also an Editorial Consultant for Best’s Underwriting Guide. Cynthia received a B.A. in English and Economics from Cornell University.
John Warner, ARM
Senior Vice President, Public Entity and Property
John leads the Public Entity and Property practices and its staff in profitably growing these Specialties. One of the founders of McKee Risk Management, he was an integral component to its formation and growth.
John’s insurance career began in 1986. Starting in the product management area, he has held increasingly senior underwriting management positions at CIGNA, PMA and Reliance Specialty. Prior to joining McKee Risk, he was National Director of Public Entities for Reliance Specialty.
John has an MBA from St. Joseph’s University and a B.S. (Finance) from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He’s also attained the ARM designation.
Vice President, Construction
Bob is the practice leader for Construction, where the charge to profitably grow this program by utilizing his product expertise and relationships forged over the past 30 years.
Bob’s insurance career began with Chubb in 1982 where he held several underwriting and home office positions before becoming Vice President. After more than 20 years at Chubb, Bob joined The Hartford as Regional Vice President. He later joined CNA, where he was a Senior Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Zone Officer.
Bob has a BS in Finance and Management from University of Richmond, Robins School of Business.
Vice President, Claims
Ed works closely with the various company claim departments, third party administrators, and agents to ensure claims are properly managed and resolved for the best possible outcome. As part of this process, Ed is involved in the development of appropriate action plans on the larger more complex claims. Ed communicates regularly with Actuarial concerning claims trends. Ed is also a key member of the Collaborative Underwriting Committee, involved in underwriting the most complex accounts within the portfolio.
Ed has worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years. After graduating from Ursinus College, Ed began his career at Commercial Union Insurance Company as a Multi-Line Outside Claims Adjuster. In 1981, Ed joined Crum & Forster Insurance Company where he was a Liability Claims Manager. He left Crum & Forster to join Reliance Insurance Company in 1997. At Reliance, Ed was responsible for overseeing Reliance Specialty Division claims handling for an eight state region. Ed left Reliance to join McKee in 2000.
Vice President, Workers Compensation and Mergers & Acquisitions
Scott leads the WC and M&A Practices with the charge to profitably grow this national program by utilizing his product expertise and relationships forged over the past 19 years.
Scott’s insurance career began in 1986, starting in the claims area. He has held increasingly responsible positions in underwriting and marketing. Prior to joining McKee Risk, he was the Mid Atlantic Business Development Manager for ACE Complete, the internet based WC initiative for ACE USA.
Scott has an MBA from Penn State University and a B.S. (Business Administration) from Clarion University. Scott has also obtained the ARM and AIC designations.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Rich is responsible for Sales and Marketing for McKee Risk Management. Rich leads a team of experienced sales and marketing professionals who are responsible for selling the entire suite of McKee Risk Management’s products. In addition, Rich is also responsible for developing the McKee Risk Management Brand and expanding the marketing foot print.
Rich’s insurance career began with Prudential’s Property & Casualty division in 1995 as an underwriter trainee. Rich held several underwriting and home office positions at Prudential before joining AIG. At AIG, Rich was an underwriter, underwriting manager and a Business Development Manager.
Rich has a MBA from Monmouth University and a B.S. (Healthcare Administration) from Ohio University.
Dan Niewoehner, CSP
Director, Risk Control Services
Dan is responsible for coordinating all risk control survey and service activities. Additionally, Dan conducts risk control inspections, assists underwriters in exposure identification, and works closely with insureds in designing risk management strategies. Dan is also a member of the collaborative underwriting committee, working with Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial to underwrite the most complex risks within the McKee portfolio.
Dan has over 18 years of experience in the insurance industry, including positions at PMA, USF&G, Zurich, and Reliance. He has specialized in providing risk control services to moderate and large construction, manufacturing, and public entity clients.
Dan is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and has completed extensive professional development studies including training that qualifies him OSHA as a 10 & 30 hour instructor in the OSHA Construction Standards, and as a AIHA qualified industrial hygiene technician. Dan is currently President of the American Society of Safety Engineers Philadelphia Chapter. Dan is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Industrial Safety and Health.
Chief Technology Officer
Craig is responsible for infrastructure and applications systems for McKee. Comprehensive information concerning the portfolios is essential to the underwriting profitability of McKee’s business. McKee’s MIS system tracks submissions, quote hits, losses, and work in progress. This system allows management of business by specialty, class, line, distribution source and geographic location. Accessibility of that information is of paramount importance to efficient decision making in Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial disciplines. Craig manages systems which streamline the processes within the firm, and interface smoothly with partner carriers.
Craig has a broad background in the Technology field, holding positions as Systems Engineer, Information Specialist and Software Development Manager. Craig received his BS in Business Administration/Decision Sciences from University of Denver.
